About

The Pantheon Pact is the founding charter governing the seven Orders and Societies at Eastern Tsuga College. It was established in the late 1970s when ETC banned Greek-letter organizations following hazing deaths, and the fraternities and sororities relocated off-campus and rebranded as Orders and Societies with names drawn from Greek mythology. The Pact defines the framework within which all seven organizations operate: their autonomy from the university, their internal discipline systems, their inter-organizational cooperation, and their conflict resolution mechanisms.

The Pantheon Pact does not govern the modern Order of Aetherion at ETC, which operates entirely outside its framework, consistent with the historical Order of Aetherion's status as an outsider organization.

Origins

When ETC banned Greek organizations in the late 1970s after a series of hazing deaths, the affected organizations did not dissolve. They relocated off-campus to the Elysian Road mansions, rebranded under Greek mythological names, and established a shared governance framework. The renaming was explicitly intended as a provocation toward the university administration. The Pantheon Pact formalized the rules under which the new organizations would operate, protecting each from the others while establishing mechanisms for cooperation and shared events.

Key provisions

Autonomous internal tribunals

Each organization under the Pact maintains its own internal tribunal system for member discipline. The tribunal system exists specifically to protect members from external academic or legal consequences by resolving matters internally. Astraea Society tribunals, for example, are held in the basement of Astraea House and follow a specific format: the member pleads guilty or not guilty, proposes three possible punishments if guilty, and the full membership votes on which is enacted.

The Pact's tribunal structure is what allows the organizations to handle conduct that would otherwise draw university or legal scrutiny. It is, in this sense, both a protection for members and a mechanism of internal control.

Conflict resolution

The Pact establishes mechanisms for resolving disputes between organizations. The specific procedures have not been detailed in canon beyond the existence of this provision.

Inter-organizational cooperation

The Pact governs joint events and cooperation between the seven organizations, including traditions that rotate across all seven houses. The Strip Relay is believed to be one such tradition, rotating annually across the Elysian Road mansions.

Member organizations

The seven founding organizations governed by the Pantheon Pact are:

Outside the Pact

The modern Order of Aetherion at ETC is not a member of the Pantheon Pact and operates without its tribunal system, protections, or accountability structure. This is consistent with the historical Order of Aetherion's status as an outsider organization that never aligned with Verdant's established occult infrastructure.

Connection to the SSU

The Pantheon Pact is the legal and social framework that allows the organizations of Elysian Road to operate with significant autonomy from Eastern Tsuga College and from each other. In Making the Grades: Kelly's Unveiling, the Pact's tribunal provision is what enables the Astraea Society to discipline Kelly Spaihts internally rather than through university channels. The streak punishment, the paddle punishment, and the independent study arrangement Kelly eventually enters all exist in the space the Pact creates.
