About
La Sorcière is a sophisticated French restaurant located on a secluded rural road south of Verdant, Connecticut. It is one of the few high-end dining establishments in the area and is deliberately removed from the tourist circuit of Main Street and the college crowd of the campus edge. It is generally avoided by students, locals, and faculty, except when hosting out-of-town guests. Professor William Taylor chooses it precisely for this reason when he takes Kelly Spaihts to dinner in Making the Grades: Kelly's Unveiling.
Description
La Sorcière has a witch-themed interior: velvet curtains, dark mahogany, candles, occult symbols, and paintings of witches throughout. The lighting is low. The menu is traditional French with contemporary touches and is accompanied by an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is intimate and private in a way that suits its clientele's preference for discretion.
The decor sits in an interesting position relative to Verdant's public-facing witch tourism identity. La Sorcière's occult aesthetic is refined rather than novelty-driven, aimed at a dining audience rather than a ghost tour crowd. Whether the owners have any genuine connection to Verdant's occult history has not been established in canon.
Connection to the SSU
La Sorcière appears in Making the Grades: Kelly's Unveiling Book Two as the setting for Taylor's dinner with Kelly. Taylor specifically selects it because its clientele of out-of-town guests makes it extremely unlikely he will encounter students, colleagues, or anyone who would recognize them together. At dinner, he gives Kelly a silver butt plug along with instructions. The choice of restaurant is itself a piece of Taylor's methodology: controlled environment, low visibility, and high formality as a social pressure mechanism.
